This area of great beauty is also a place of historical importance. In 1875, the Prince of Wales was visiting the area and was so impressed with the quality of water that it is thought to have inspired the building of the Labugama reservoir.

Kotte Walk
Ramparts, moats and bustling city life…
Welcome to the forgotten Kingdom of Kotte, built in the 14th century. Kotte was a water fortress fortified with ramparts of laterite rocks. Walking through this populated area, you will be amazed to see the remnants of the old rampart, inner & outer moats and stupa-like structures.
